Day 1 – Explore Melnik
Depart Sofia early morning from Sofia for the 3 hour bus ride to Melnik, arriving about 11:00. Hotel check in and orientation, followed by optional scavenger hunt and walking tour around town. Maps and instructions provided. Lunch on your own. 17:00 meet at the hotel for wine tasting and visit to the wine museum. Group dinner at a traditional Bulgarian restaurant.
Day 2 – Discover Rozhen Monastery
Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. 10:00 departure for optional 90 minute walk to Rozhen Monastery through dramatic scenery with views. For those who prefer not to walk, group travel to the monastery by bus, leaving about 11:00. Return to Sofia departs directly from the monastery, stopping at Rupite along the way.
